ABSTRACT
Sustainable building projects has become increasingly important in recent years. To improve the circulation of materials in the construction sector, circular economy-inspired actions have been taken
into account for CDW management The article investigates the possibility of using recycled aggregate as a reservoir of water for internal curing of concrete, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development and circular economy. The experiment consisted of four different curing scenarios and different proportions of recycled aggregate. The experiment measured the following properties: compressive strength, density, porosity, and SEM analysis of the interfacial transition zone between the aggregate and the cement paste. The analysis revealed that substituting 10% of natural aggregate with recycled aggregate can shorten the external water curing time required for the concrete without affecting its final strength adversely. This solution also does not cause a significant increase in the porosity of concrete or a deterioration in the quality of the interfacial transition zone.
